Working together

School and care team

The adults around your child can work from one plan, when you say so.

With your written permission, we can speak with your child's therapist, pediatrician or school counselor, and send a letter about your child's care. You choose who, and what is shared, and you can change your mind.

At a glance

  • Permission: a parent's written consent, for each person

  • Teens are told before anything is shared

  • Letters: written on request

How it works

You stay in charge of who hears what.

  1. Step 1: You sign the permission

A short form names the person and what we may share with them.

  2. Step 2: We tell your teen

Before we speak with anyone, your teen knows what will be said.

  3. Step 3: We share what is needed

The medicine plan and what to watch for, not word-for-word notes from a session.

  4. Step 4: You can stop it

Tell us in writing and we stop. The person we spoke with is told only that permission has ended.

What this is not

  • Not a school placement report

We do not decide services or accommodations; the school does.

  • Not a custody or court letter

We do not write for custody or court.

  • Not a weekly update

We speak with a therapist or school when it helps the plan, not on a fixed schedule.

Questions

Questions about school and care team

Can you talk to my child's therapist?

Yes, with your written permission. We can also suggest therapists if your child does not have one.

Will the school know my child sees a psychiatrist?

Only if you tell them or sign permission for us to. We do not contact a school on our own.

Can you write a letter for school?

We can write a letter about your child's care on a parent's written request. We do not write evaluations for placement decisions.

Want to bring your child's team in?

Write to us, and we will send the permission form after the first session.
